Christmas Tried And Tested 2023: Fizz

The official UTCT results are in! Check out which Fizz we thought was the best in our annual Christmas taste test.

WINNER: CO-OP Les Pionniers Non Vintage Champagne 75cl, £22.75

Trying this multi-award-winning champagne was absolutely delicious, our team loved the flavours and could flavours of nectarine, apple and slightly biscuity and felt that the balance between sweet and citrus was perfect with the amount of bubbles, this is one champagne we will be serving this Christmas!

SECOND PLACE: Tesco Finest Blanquette De Limoux 75cl, £10

This Brut is packed full of flavour and our team really liked the fresh but subtle citrus taste and felt it was
light and refreshing, full of fizz, and would go perfectly with any fish or turkey dish.

THIRD PLACE: ASDA Louvel Fontaine Champagne Brut, £10

Smooth and fruity but still quite dry, our team enjoyed the taste and felt it was slightly more sour but that was good as it made this drink very refreshing and light. The team also felt it was easy to drink and would be great with some smoked salmon or with a tasty cheese board.

Iceland Maison de la Rougerie Brut Crémant de Bordeaux 750ml, £9.50

Light but with a crisp aftertaste, our team said this champagne was full of flavours of orange, and peach and was balanced up nicely with citrus notes throughout. We felt that this would be perfect as the perfect accompaniment to a fresh salad or some fresh fruit.

ASDA Fillipo Sansovino Extra Dry Prosecco D.O.C., £7.50

A very nice Procesco which our team thought was fresh and could taste notes of apple and pear with sweet notes throughout. Pair this with a carbonara pasta or a creamy white sauce pasta and this would be perfect.
